August 2019 Gigs – Reviews & Photos

7th August – Frog Island Jazz Band

REVIEWS:
Maureen, Veronica & Malcolm: “A band that has largely been together for 57 years!  They last played at the Club in Nat Gonella’s time, which is too long an interval.  Let’s have them back soon.”
Tim & Andrew: “Well worth the late start of what turned out to be a lovely evening.  Why have we not had them before?”
Dave, Anita, Sue, Vic & John: “Good trad band.  Get them back!”
Jan Almond: “They may have been late but they are all excellent musicians.  Nice to see a band we haven’t seen for a long time.”
Maureen & John Carter: “A real traditional band on their first visit (this century) playing 1920s/1930s jazz with much arranged ensemble playing, rather than long solos.  Excellent stuff.”
Tony Baily: “A long way to come but worth it.  Safe journey home.”

21st August –  Jeff Barnhart‘s Sweet & Hot Quartet

David & Bridget Salmons: ” Great variety & Music made the evening very enjoyable.  A very talented group – and lots of humour!  They all need a special mention -‘Spats’ never stops.”
Ron Norman: “Great!  Very entertaining.  Unusual tunes and different arrangements.  Look forward to next year.”
Roger & Lesley: “They never disappoint!  Enjoy their music and watching them enjoy themselves.  Wonderful evening.”
Gill, Sandra, Elaine and a pair of Brians: “Absolutely brilliant.  They enjoy what they are doing so much.”
Nick & Heather and Carole Mort: “A highly talented band (partly) from the USA with a wide repertoire and the added bonus of ‘Spats’ Langham.  BRILLIANT!”
