4th – Tad Newton’s Jazz Friends.
REVIEWS:
Julia & Mark: “Another Great evening of quality music from Tad Newton & Friends, which put plenty of smiles on our faces. The piano was brilliant whether ridiculously silky & sophisticated or driving boogie-woogie, superb Sax, Trumpet and Trombone Clarinet, beautiful Bass & divine Drums.
We especially liked Hiya & Song for my Father. This is a band that freshens up even the most familiar tunes, thank you! Would love to hear them play some darker slower numbers. They somehow sound like there are 12 musicians playing.”
Nick & Heather A: “A band who really know their business across the whole Jazz spectrum.“
Hugh plus 2 guests: “A very jolly and excellent evening. Look forward to next year when I am sure they will return.“
Anon: “Entertaining and varied programme from a group of very talented musicians.“
Dean A: “Great to see Tad Newton, great set. Thanks for a Fab night.”
Malcolm and Gary: “As Tad said, a wide spectrum of music and styles very well played by six great musicians. A very varied and entertaining evening.“
Bob, Paul & Veronica: “Slick and polished performance, varied programme. Altogether very entertaining.“
Juliette Hewitt & Yvonne Flory: “Great musicians making for an enjoyable evening. Very expressive, they actually appeared to be enjoying themselves, making for great rapport with the audience.“
Lesley & Roger: “A very wide choice of music from New Orleans to Swing and beyond, all played with great skill, enthusiasm and enjoyment made for a different and very enjoyable evening.“
John & Gwyn: “Exceptional – never known 2 sets pass so quickly.“

18th – Forest Hills Owls
Reviews:
John & Gill: “It’s great to hear a younger generation playing our kind of music – the future looks a bit brighter. They are welcome to come back any time, a brilliant night.”
Julia & Mark: “It made me want to shimmy in my sequinned dress and twirl my feather boa. I had a head full of Busby Berkley babes and Betty Boop – so evocative! Then just when I was thinking this is fantastic, but I’d love to hear how you do slower bluesy stuff, along came the gorgeous and sinuously seductive “Anything”. Also loved the fluttering fluid take on “Now and Then” and “Cuckoo Blues” especially the banjo details. This was some of the best guitar and banjo we’ve heard. In fact, beautiful details from everyone, and these guys are masters of the snap ending, so tight and together, fresh and brilliant. Thank you.“
Barry and Trish: “Very Enjoyable evening, with lots of new tunes.”
Hugh & Tina: “Excellent, a very polished and professional performance. Hope they will come back.”
Malcolm & Gary: “A different sound & unusual to have a bass sax. Lots of different tunes too. A great evening’s entertainment which should be repeated as soon as possible. Three players new to Gosport (Michael McQuaid, Harry Evans & David Horniblow). The other three have been here before, two (Chris Lowe & Nicholas D Ball, with Panama Café Orchestra) and Martin Wheatley with Enrico Tomasso in March this year and with Sweetie Pie in 2017.”
Maureen & John: “A band new to Gosport from the London area, playing in a very strict style the music of the 1920’s and 30’s, with many obscure tunes of that period. A welcome change.”
Chris & Mark: “A brilliant evening, wonderful sound and lots of new tunes for us. Music all the way with no time wasted.”
Tim & Andrew: “Great to see another new band at the club. All musicians were excellent especially the drummer.”
Juliette & Yvonne: “What a find!! Great musicians who play with intelligence and sophistication. Can we have them back please!”
