September 2025 Gigs – Reviews & Photos

10th – Bob Dwyer’s Bix ‘n’ Pieces

REVIEWS:
Julia & Mark: “We were smiling most of the night, as usual with this band – who couldn’t love the energy & commitment the always bring?  Brilliant individually, they somehow seem to be more than the sum of individual performances when playing ensemble, pinging off each other and really jamming.  Faves: Tin Roof Blues, gorgeous to hear the instruments slowed down and get really expressive, why don’t they slow down more??  Also loved the play-off between trumpet and piano in Davenport Blues – beautiful toned, playful and fluid and a beautiful interpretation of Black & Blue!”
Malcolm S: “Great entertainment.  Six superb musicians playing a good selection of lovely music.  Lots of energy and good vocals. It’s been eighteen months since they were last here – can we have them back sooner please?”
Melinda Viner: “Very, very much liked the band, Fantastic!!”
Tony & Sheila: “Very enjoyable band, loved Chris.”
Phil, Tony, Linda and John: “Brilliant band – great sound.  Great show. One of the best.  outstanding entertainment.”
John & Rita Porter: “Good selection of music and jazz.  Enjoyed the whole evening.  The lad on the keyboard blended in well!”
Gwyn & John: ” Really enjoyed hearing Chris play and sing!  Very enjoyable evening – good all round musicianship.”
Roger & Lesley: “What a great evening’s entertainment from Bob and the boys playing all of Bix’s hits and many more in the New Orleans style.  We must have heard Royal Garden Blues a hundred times but never before heard the lyrics, which were sung so well by Chris.  Let’s hope they come back again soon.”
Maureen & John C: “A very welcome return for this ever popular band.  Right from the off with their lively performances of At the Jazz band Ball and Jazz Me Blues.  As the name suggests they feature mainly numbers linked to Bix Beiderbecke.  Excellent entertainment.”
Brenda & Robert D: “Very good band.  We particularly liked Tin Roof Blues and Davenport Blues.
