12th – Tad Newton’s Jazz Friends
REVIEWS:
Julia Hubery & Mark Willis: “Resplendent shirts, sensational performance ensemble, superb individual playing, must be why I was smiling all night. Best Du Bei mir Bist Du Schoen we’ve heard. Loved the complex rhythms and dark vibe of the interesting Tin Tin Deo in the second set, just before the great St. Louis Blues. The amazing energy, talent, and commitment make even over-familiar tunes, fresh.”
Tony & Jenny Billings: “Great variety of music and rhythms – fun! Very professional. Really enjoyed the variety. Great finishes too.”
Ray Freshfield: “Good range of music. Excellent musicians. Particularly like the style of the pianist.”
Ron Norman: “Great band and a great evening’s entertainment. Yes please – back soon.”
Juliet, Yvonne & Rosemary: “Very enjoyable evening thanks to some wonderful musicians.”
Tinon & Hugh Emsley: “Three delightful and varied sets. An excellent and most enjoyable evening (not with the money as far as I know).”
Gill Gwynne & John: “Very eclectic arrangement by this band. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Superb six-piece big band.
Phil, Linda & Tony: “Extraordinary – outstanding musicians – variation in timing so different.”

REVIEWS:
Roger and Leslie: “A very entertaining evening of New Orleans jazz played with energy and great skill by very talented musicians. The very best of trad jazz. Hope they can come again soon.”
Julia Hubery and Mark Willis: “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! for another night of superb energy, fantastic jamming and amazing solo virtuosity. Storming start with Jazz Band Ball. Lurrved Tin Roof Blues where everyone played their socks off – the most fun you can have is the sousaphone, silkily, joyfully played with piano and trombone to die for – everyone, sooo brilliant. Fabulous Russian Rag. Also loved the second number of the second set. Absolutely gorgeous clarinet, cornet and drums all night. How do they sound like twice the number of musicians?”
Phil Wright, Tony, Linda, Roger, Krista and Joan: “Very much liked. Very enjoyable night. Great full-on sound. Uplifting music.”
John Carter and Big Tony!: “What an improvement after the last two gigs! A return to good solid traditional Dixieland jazz! Excellent! Back to the roots of Gosport Jazz Club.”
Barry Robertson: “Another brilliant evening of lively music. Great repertoire. Excellent musicians. Loved Blues for Dolly.”
Gwyn, Gill & Jon: “Fidgety feet all evening. Brilliant. Familiar faces playing familiar tunes very well.”

Tony & Jenny Billings: “Great! Always good with a sousaphone and love Chris’s syncopated piano.”
Wendy & Kate: “Best band we have heard for a long time. Real trad jazz.”
