{"id":7397,"date":"2025-09-09T14:57:05","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:57:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gosportjazz.org.uk\/?page_id=7397"},"modified":"2025-10-04T10:09:34","modified_gmt":"2025-10-04T10:09:34","slug":"september-2025-gigs-reviews-photos","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gosportjazz.org.uk\/?page_id=7397","title":{"rendered":"September 2025 Gigs &#8211; Reviews &amp; Photos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>10<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;\u2013 Bob Dwyer\u2019s Bix \u2018n\u2019 Pieces<\/p>\n<p><strong>REVIEWS<\/strong>:<br>Julia &amp; Mark: &#8220;We were smiling most of the night, as usual with this band &#8211; who couldn&#8217;t love the energy &amp; commitment the always bring? &nbsp;Brilliant individually, they somehow seem to be more than the sum of individual performances when playing ensemble, pinging off each other and really jamming. &nbsp;Faves: <em>Tin Roof Blues, <\/em>gorgeous to hear the instruments slowed down and get really expressive, why don&#8217;t they slow down more??&nbsp; Also loved the play-off between trumpet and piano in <em>Davenport Blues <\/em>&#8211; beautiful toned, playful and fluid and a beautiful interpretation of <em>Black &amp; Blue!&#8221;<br><\/em>Malcolm S: &#8220;Great entertainment. &nbsp;Six superb musicians playing a good selection of lovely music. &nbsp;Lots of energy and good vocals. It\u2019s been eighteen months since they were last here \u2013 can we have them back sooner please?&#8221;<br>Melinda Viner: &#8220;Very, very much liked the band, Fantastic!!&#8221;<br>Tony &amp; Sheila: &#8220;Very enjoyable band, loved Chris.&#8221;<br>Phil, Tony, Linda and John: &#8220;Brilliant band &#8211; great sound. &nbsp;Great show. One of the best. &nbsp;outstanding entertainment.&#8221;<br>John &amp; Rita Porter: &#8220;Good selection of music and jazz. &nbsp;Enjoyed the whole evening. &nbsp;The lad on the keyboard blended in well!&#8221;<br>Gwyn &amp; John: &#8221; Really enjoyed hearing Chris play and sing! &nbsp;Very enjoyable evening &#8211; good all round musicianship.&#8221;<br>Roger &amp; Lesley: \u201cWhat a great evening\u2019s entertainment from Bob and the boys playing all of Bix\u2019s hits and many more in the New Orleans style.&nbsp; We must have heard <em>Royal Garden Blues <\/em>a hundred times but never before heard the lyrics, which were sung so well by Chris.&nbsp; Let\u2019s hope they come back again soon.\u201d<br>Maureen &amp; John C: &#8220;A very welcome return for this ever popular band. &nbsp;Right from the off with their lively performances of<em> At the Jazz band Ball<\/em> and<em> Jazz Me Blues.<\/em> &nbsp;As the name suggests they feature mainly numbers linked to Bix Beiderbecke. &nbsp;Excellent entertainment.&#8221; <a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.storyvillejassband.info\/\">Storyville Jass Band<\/a> from Holland<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>REVIEWS:<br \/><\/strong>Julia Hubery &amp; Mark Willis: \u201cFantastic energy and great jamming vibe.\u00a0 Beautifully fluid clarinet.\u00a0 Favourites: Joie de vivre of <em>High Society, <\/em>lovely harmonics in <em>My Gal Sal, <\/em>wonderful driving beat of <em>Alright, OK<\/em>.\u00a0 Thanks for a superbly swinging evening!\u201d<br \/>Margaret &amp; Jim Bevington: \u201cExcellent.\u00a0 Lots of lovely tunes brilliantly played and good vocalists.\u201d<br \/>Nick &amp; Heather Anderson: \u201cA band playing in excellent harmony with vocal refrains.\u201d\u00a0 Carole Mort: \u201cVery brilliant vas always!\u201d<br \/>Gary, Rosemary, Yvonne &amp; Juliette: A wonderful evening\u2019s entertainment.\u00a0 A good mix of songs and music all delivered with a brilliant sense of skill and humour, underlined by a brilliant drum solo.\u201d<br \/>Trish Hurman and Colin Terry: \u201dExcellent again.\u00a0 One of the very best bands that visit.\u201d<br \/>Jan, Paul, Veronica &amp; Byrnece: \u201cAs ever, a fabulous band.\u00a0 Brilliant musicians.\u00a0 Great choice of music.\u00a0 All in all, a wonderful evening\u2019s entertainment.\u201d<br \/>Derek &amp; Wendy: \u201cGreat skill. \u00a0Great variety. \u00a0Great personality. \u00a0Great outfits, too! (Even the keyboard!)\u00a0 Goed gedaan (good job).\u201d<br \/>John &amp; Maureen Carter: \u201cUsual evening\u2019s excellent entertainment we have come to expect from this superb band on their usual visit to England.\u201d<br \/>John, Gill &amp;
